Adoption Timeline

2011
July- We're pregnant! (it's our first child)

October- We receive a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome and learn that our precious baby is a GIRL.

2012
March- EJ is born!

November- We feel the Lord calling us to adopt a child with special needs. We begin to pray, read, and learn more about international adoption.

2013
August- We begin the home study process. Depending on timing and paperwork, we learn we will most likely travel to meet our child (and then later bring her home) in the first few months of 2014.

September 16th- We are officially home study approved! Now we need to keep chipping away at documents for our dossier.

September 19th- We officially commit to Nadiya!

October 11th- We mailed our dossier off to a family who will be traveling to EE soon. They will hand carry our dossier documents and give our "paper baby" to the in-country facilitation team.

October 17th- Our dossier is in the hands of our in-country facilitation team.

October 24th- Dossier is formally submitted to the EE government.

November 25th- We receive our travel date and leave the next day!

December 2nd- We meet our girl for the very first time.

December 17th- We pass court! Now we must wait 3 long weeks before the final paper chase and "gotcha day."

2014

January 9th- Gotcha Day!

January 15th- After many long hours in the air (3 flights!) we arrive back in America. We spent a total of 7 weeks in Ukraine!
